I miss my daughters so much when they are away. I also worry about them tremendously. Here are some survival tips for moms of college students:

1. Download the Marco Polo app- this is a group video app that has helped my family stay connected daily. I absolutely love it because I get to "see" my children daily and keep up with what's happening in their lives.

2. Download the Venmo app- this is an app for money exchange. When my daughters are in a bind and need money right away, I venmo them what they need. Also, if it's a loan, then they venmo me the money back when they can.

3. Get Amazon Prime and send necessities and snacks straight to your college kids.

4. I have the time zone that my children attend college in as a saved time zone on my phone.

5. I take care of my emotional and social well-being so that I can be happy and provide the emotional support they need while away from home.

While I am sad that summer vacation is over, I am also excited about the new school year. I have 85 new students and am beginning an online Masters program so definitely excited for the future. Also, I’m excited to see what each of my children will accomplish this school year. My baby is at a new school this year and my sons are in 10th and 12th grades. Yes, three of us will be graduating next year- one from high school, one from undergrad, and myself from graduate school. Life is moving quickly and I intend to cherish the moments and make the best of everything life throws at me. I have more time with my mom and that I'm thankful for. I enjoy weekly date nights with my husband and service opportunities with my children. I feel like a new school year brings a fresh start. Autumn will bring more amazing memories!

I will continue to focus on all aspects of my Mommy Care Checklist as well as put priority on the people who mean the most to me. I’m so thankful my girls contact me daily whether it be texts, phone calls, Marco Polo videos, or messages on Instagram. It makes missing them a little easier.
